My New Year’s Resolution, like most people, is to lose weight and get healthy!
Well, I have tried everything to get motivated and stay motivated - to no avail. So, I thought I would try my hand at blogging through my journey of weight loss. I figured this would keep me in check and hold me accountable. Especially if I have some followers… I NEED to lose this weight, because the sad truth is that I am OBESE. I never thought I would say those words about myself seeing as I was under 120lbs until I stopped playing softball when I was 18. After that, I have steadily gained weight each year. Some years more than others, depending on my stress levels. Truth be told, I am a major STRESS eater and I am trying to find other ways of dealing with stress as well.

Thank you for joining me in my journey of weight loss!
Good Luck Dana!! I have gained weight off and on since I stopped playing softball too. I was used to being so active and young that I could eat whatever I wanted. My problem is I keep eating like I'm an athletic 16 year old!! My goal this year is to get healthy again and STAY healthy. I am shooting for 20-30lbs to be in the healthy range for my height. I will be praying for you to have strength, energy and to feel better than you ever have!! There is a free website that I used a while back that I plan on using again. (fitday.com) it lets you keep track of your weight, measurements, food, exercise, etc...it was a pretty helpfull tool if you like to keep track of things.

Dana,
ReplyDeleteI will tell you from experience:
1- PORTION CONTROL!!! You know those little plates that you feed your daughter on, well eat off those plates as well. If you do that it will help you succeed faster.
A few more things:
-snack/eat every 2-4 hours such as carrots, grapes only a handful, cucumber, eat right yogurt (only 60 calories and tastes great just like yoplate). I personally like to eat four crackers, four slices of cucumber with some hummus, its very tasty, to me that is. :)
-read the ingredients...if sugar such as Fructose, corn syrup, sugar, words like that are in the first three ingredients try not to eat that food, look for another thing to eat where some type of sugar is not in the first three ingedients. Ingredients list in order according to the amount of each substance.
-100 percent whole wheat, NOT wheat extract (which was actually on the news last night too, so again read ingedients)
-Sodas-they are addicting for a reason, if you can cut those out, or at least down it will have a slow but yet good effect.
-Protien....there are so many different kinds. try to eat more chicken, fish of any kind, lean pork, I would only eat red meat like once a week or every other week even depending on how much you eat at one time. But remember portion control. If you eat a small protion then I would say once a week is good but make sure it is LEAN meat.
-an you already know exercise...I don't have to tell you that one. But 30-45 minutes 3-5 times a week will help out A LOT if you do it a long with what I have listed above!!!
These are just a few things I have thought of, I sure hope this helps give you some dirrection. If you need anymore advice let me know. Love ya girl and I know YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!
~Shayne
GOOD LUCK! I hope you reach your goal.
